Taxonomy & naming
Paraschistura naseeri was described by Ahmad & Mirza in 1963, which is why the authority is given in parentheses — a sign the species has since been moved out of the genus in which it was first placed. Taxonomic databases record it under the historical combination Schistura naseeri before being placed in Paraschistura, reflecting the repeated splitting of the old, catch-all Nemacheilus/Noemacheilus/Schistura complex that has reshuffled Cobitoidea taxonomy for decades. The Catalog of Fishes (Eschmeyer, CAS) governs the currently valid combination, and this article follows that placement in Paraschistura.
The species sits in Nemacheilidae, the stone or brook loach family — by far the largest family of true loaches, with many hundreds of species spread across Eurasia, the great majority of them narrow-range stream endemics like this one. Its species epithet honours a person rather than a place or a feature.
Morphology
Detailed morphological description is not available in the sources consulted for this article, and rather than guess at proportions or fin-ray counts, we note plainly that size and body-form data are sparse for this species. Paraschistura naseeri is not a hobby fish.
