Taxonomy & naming
Schistura koladynensis was described in 2012 by Lokeshwor and Vishwanath in Zootaxa, part of a wave of new Schistura descriptions from the poorly-surveyed streams of India's northeastern states. The species name refers directly to its type locality, the Koladyne (also spelled Kaladan) River, which rises in Mizoram and flows south into Myanmar.
It sits in the genus Schistura, within the family Nemacheilidae — the stone or brook loaches, the largest family of true loaches and one that has been repeatedly reshuffled as ichthyologists split the old catch-all genera Nemacheilus and Noemacheilus. Morphology
