The fish would suit a biotope setup mimicking a Venezuelan highland stream: smooth stones, fine gravel, minimal or no planted vegetation beyond Java fern or similarly robust plants, and tankmates restricted to other cool-water stream species from the same drainage. Its small size and presumed peaceful disposition make it compatible in principle with similar-sized characins and small catfishes tolerant of cooler, fast-flowing water.
