Taxonomy & naming
Nemacheilus flavus was described by Leo Berg in 1905. Berg was a prolific describer of Eurasian freshwater fishes in the early twentieth century, and 1905 falls within the period when he was actively working through the stone-loach fauna of the Russian Empire and neighbouring Central Asia. The species is treated as valid under the Catalog of Fishes, the standing authority for fish nomenclature, and sits in the genus Nemacheilus within the family Nemacheilidae.
Nemacheilidae itself has been heavily reorganised over the past few decades. The old, broad genus "Nemacheilus" (sometimes spelled Noemacheilus) once served as a catch-all for a huge number of Eurasian stone loaches; many of those species have since been redistributed into segregate genera such as Schistura, Triplophysa, Barbatula and Oxynoemacheilus as the family's internal relationships were resolved. This article keeps the species in Nemacheilus as given, without attempting to reassign it — a task for a full taxonomic revision, not a species profile built from limited sources.
Morphology

That generic picture should be read as an expectation for the genus, not a verified account of where this particular species lives.
Feeding
Nothing has been documented specifically about the diet of Nemacheilus flavus. Nemacheilus and related stone loaches are, as a rule, benthic micro-predators: they work the bottom of clear, fast streams picking off small invertebrates — aquatic insect larvae, small crustaceans, worms and similar prey — rather than grazing algae or biofilm in the manner of hillstream loaches proper.

Any care guidance here is necessarily drawn from the genus rather than from direct experience with the species.
Were a Nemacheilus stone loach of this kind to be kept, the general expectations for the genus would apply: cool-to-moderate, clean, well-oxygenated, flowing water over a gravel or sand substrate, since these are stream fish rather than still-water fish. As with other nemacheilids, the reduced scales typical of the family mean sensitivity to copper-based medications and full-strength treatments is likely, so any dosing would warrant caution. None of this should be read as a tested care sheet — it is a reasonable extrapolation for a species with no documented aquarium history.
Conservation
Nemacheilus flavus has not been assessed on the IUCN Red List and carries no formal conservation status; it is recorded here as Not Evaluated rather than assigned a guessed category. This is unsurprising for a narrow-range Eurasian stone loach described over a century ago — a great many Nemacheilidae species, especially those known from limited historical collections, have never been re-surveyed or formally evaluated.
Without modern distribution or population data, nothing can be said about pressures on this species specifically. More broadly, stream-endemic stone loaches across Asia face generic threats from damming, water abstraction, siltation and pollution of the small, fast-flowing habitats they depend on, but attributing any of that to N. flavus in particular would go beyond what the record supports.
