Morphology

Brycon moorei has the classic Brycon build: a fusiform, laterally compressed, silvery body built for sustained fast swimming rather than the deep, disc-like profile of a piranha or pacu. FishBase records a maximum published length of 21 in standard length and a maximum weight of 4.9 kg — this is a substantial fish by any characin standard, closer in scale to a large barb or small carp than to a tetra.
